The village of Exoghi hides away at the very top of a hill overlooking Afales Bay on Ithaca’s north coast. Up to the middle of the 20th Century the village’s population was 1,500 and the surrounding hillside terraces were covered with vineyards. Today a population of around twenty look after just twelve vineyards and the hillsides are forested with tall cypress trees. Exoghi, meaning “out of the sky”, offers a peaceful retreat.
A narrow, winding road from Stavros climbs the hillside for two kilometres to Exoghi. This Cottage is on one of the lower village terraces and commands a magnificent panoramic view over the deep blue waters of Afales Bay and Ithaca’s northern valleys of olive groves.
Recently renovated, the cottage opens out to a balcony with a flight of steps down to a large terrace, built around a tall almond tree. A small church is next door.
This Cottage will appeal to couples wanting a peaceful escape from the crowds with dramatic views.
