Houses for just two people are a rarity, which in itself makes this most unusual little house very desirable. Within easy reach of both St Stephano and Kerasia, Folitsa has a charm and character all its own. There is no doubt that this is a quirky little house, a reflection of its Greek owner’s desire to re-create the atmosphere of an old mountain cabin. The name means ‘little nest’ – an apt enough description of what was once, after all, an abandoned ruin in an olive grove.
There is a distinct sense of humour about the design – the old ruin has been restored while a new wall adjacent to the swimming pool has been deliberately ‘distressed’ to look like a romantic ruin! Some items of furniture are made from recycled materials and decorations include old village tools and utensils. The compact interior is almost entirely open-plan and air-conditioned throughout, perfectly complemented by a lovely outdoor area, with a pretty dining terrace overlooking the sunny ‘L – shaped’ pool, and views that take the breath away. Folitsa is the ideal ‘love nest’, certain to refresh any relationship!
