Ibiza is home to what many consider one of the Mediterranean’s best kept secrets; a remarkable range of exceptional properties in the most breathtaking locations. More than holding its own amongst rarefied company is La Vista, an outstanding villa where every aspect which includes the splendid situation, wonderful private pool, impressive amount of space and facilities offered, as well as a beautifully understated yet homely décor, firmly establishes the property as one of our most exclusive hidden ‘boltholes’. Tucked away off a long (and bumpy!) unmade track this is an extraordinary spot; at once private, discreet and exclusive it is a place we guarantee you will find difficult to leave.
Aside from La Vista’s unique aspect and an atmosphere that could be lifted straight from the tropics, perhaps the highlight of this distinctive house is the astonishing almost ‘omega-shaped’, private pool. Fringed by a generous sun terrace and reached by graceful steps bounded by lawns and a profusion of greenery the pool, measuring an impressive 18m x 10m at its widest points, boasts wide Roman steps, a long infinity edge and a ‘swim-up’ bar with sunken bar stools. Completing an environment tailor-made for effortless relaxation is an adjacent, shaded ‘chill-out’ area with soft seating.
Providing inspiration for the house name, a wealth of uninterrupted, panoramic vistas can be enjoyed from a variety of vantage points in and around the property. Tracking across a spectacular 270°, the sea views from virtually every location seem to bestow an almost ethereal quality on the house and grounds! And no views are better than those offered by the pool and terrace themselves where the overwhelming aura of calm is further enhanced by having a front row seat, sunbed (or bar stool) to witness sunsets widely considered some of the most dramatic in the Mediterranean.
As eye-catching and spacious as the surrounding lush landscape, the interior contains tasteful furnishings and various charming Ibicencan touches in a décor that sees terracotta-tones harmonise with fiery reds and soothing beiges. The large kitchen/dining area has a smart, modern feel and a practical layout that works well while an Arabic-influenced courtyard-garden has a burbling fountain and exotic Balinese bed shaded by a canopy of leaves.
Three double bedrooms each have an en suite bath or shower room, a fourth bedroom, also en suite, has four single beds and is perfect for sharing youngsters, or perhaps a family wanting close proximity to one another. The first floor, all master bedroom, is replete with a huge sleeping space, vast en suite bathroom, large side and rear terraces and a long front balcony from where the views… well it has all been said! Salubrious light breezes waft gently throughout the house, so agreeable that air conditioning is not considered necessary and the owner has installed traditional ceiling fans as a stylish alternative.
The nearest sandy cove, Cala Bassa is only 5.5km away and many others are within a 15-20 minute drive. Cala D’Hort has two renowned seafood restaurants and a feel of being within touching distance of legendary Es Vedrà, a mystical rocky outcrop that graces countless postcards and whose whose magnetic powers are said to render many a compass useless.
Two local restaurants as well as hilltop San Augustin, one of the most unspoilt villages in Ibiza where you will find a supermarket and an evening-only bar/restaurant, are within 4km.
