From its exceptional vantage point in the hills above Nice, La Voile Blanche affords magnificent views of the coast as well as taking in the dome of Nice observatory and the perched village of Eze. Home to its owners for the majority of the year, this is a property designed and equipped to high specifications and which succeeds in being impressive and welcoming in equal measure.

Heading west, the entrance hall opens out into a capacious living room, whose elegant furnishings are complemented by an eclectic collection of artworks as well as artefacts with a distinctly Asian or African flavour. A formal dining area beside the fully glazed south-facing wall leads to the stylish and contemporary kitchen. Glass sliding doors allow an almost seamless extension of the kitchen onto an al fresco dining terrace, shaded by a sail-like canopy whose shape inspired the name of the house – the white sail. In the same way, the indoor living room flows naturally into the open air lounge which can benefit from hill breezes but is covered to provide shelter from the midday sun. Along with the white chiffon-like drapes which frame this terrace, colourful cushions and Moroccan lanterns evoke an Arabian Nights atmosphere which is particularly bewitching as the sun sets over the bay of Nice below.

Three bedrooms are located along the east side of the house and look out onto the flowering garden, whilst the fourth bedroom is on the first floor and has the advantage of a stunning panoramic sea view from its private sun terrace. Set on a lower level in front of the house, the pool area is ideally positioned to enjoy maximum sun throughout the day and there is a further outdoor seating area for poolside relaxation.

Local amenities can be found at the bottom of the winding hill road (approx 5km) and the distance to Nice’s attractive old town is only 9km in total. A colourful and bustling flower market takes place in the Cours Saleya, one of several pretty squares lined with bars and restaurants. After a stroll through the cobbled streets, you may like to head to the beach for the afternoon or take a stroll along the Promenade des Anglais and climb up Castle Hill to appreciate the classic view immortalised by many celebrated artists of the crescent shaped Baie des Anges. Other places of interest nearby include the dramatically perched village of Eze (18km) and the ruins of the Roman temple at La Turbie (15km), and of the course the many attractions of the Côte d’Azur are easily accessible, be it east to Monaco (20km) or west to Antibes (35km) and Cannes (45km).
