A visit to the breathtaking hillside Villa will reveal a beautifully designed home built on three levels offering the very latest in facilities and comfort with an awe-inspiring infinity pool. This house is ideal for people who want to get away from it all and simply chill out between cultural excursions or a day lazing around the pool.
Set in the exclusive Domaine de Valcros at La Londe les Maures - a short 20 minute drive from Toulon – Hyeres airport - you are ideally situated to enjoy the very best of this coastal area of Provence, between St Tropez and Hyeres with its fabulous beaches, villages, vineyards and restaurants.
The private infinity pool has stunning views of the sea and islands. The towns of St Tropez and Hyeres are some 40km and 10km away respectively and the airports of Nice and Marseilles are about an hour and a half drive away. The popular holiday town of Le Lavandou and the renowned 12th Century village of Bormes les Mimosas are about 10km also. The Islands of Porquerolles, Port Cros and Levant are a short ferry ride from Port Miramar at La Londe or Giens at Hyeres.
Interior and grounds
This lavish five-bedroom villa is spread over three levels and is the perfect holiday location for a large family or groups of up to 10 people. The pool and terraces offer a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean sea, the Isles D’or of Porquerolles & Port Cros to the south and the beautiful hills around the house to the west – with stunning sunsets.
Our kitchen is modern and inviting. It is ideal for preparing meals for a few or many, using fresh ingredients purchased from the village markets. The SieMatic kitchen is contemporary, large and opens out onto a covered terrace area for outdoor dining via two sliding doors, with a tables inside and out for entertaining 10-to-12 people. It has two large Smeg ovens and Gaggenau appliances with convection hob, American fridge freezer, dishwasher and Franke waste disposal unit.
The flat screen television delivers TV and Radio programming via satellite, as do all of the televisions in the villa. The ceiling-mounted Bose speakers deliver perfect quality sound throughout the middle level – inside, outside the kitchen and around the pool.
Congregate in the kitchen or drift into the inviting lounge area, which steps out onto sprawling terraces and an outdoor dining area.The large, open plan lounge area has yet another flat screen TV and is home to the state-of-the-art Bose sound system. It also has air cooling, a working fireplace and a formal dining area that seats up to 10 people. An eclectic mix of traditional and modern design, this room and much of this level features art and curios collected from travels around India and Asia.
Our billiards table dates back to the early 20th century. A television, stereo and wet bar round out this lounge.The billiard / snooker room has a three quarter sized antique table dating back to 1900. The room also has a wall mounted flat screen TV and a separate Denon sound system. The sound system, which is wired to play music throughout the villa should you wish, accommodates your iPod or other portable music player as a source. There is an honesty bar in the billiard room – we ask that our guests replace what they use.
The main wall of the lounge displays a dazzling 43-inch plasma screen television with a 5 speaker ceiling mounted surround sound system. Wired into this same spectacular sound system is a CD and DVD player. The bookcase is well stocked with all manner of media: books, over 50 DVDs, CDs, games and puzzles.
And because the gleaming surfaces of water are to be admired as much as used, our 12x4m infinity pool is as beautiful as it is practical (comes with retracted safety cover and back-up heating for outside of season). A pool house with showers, wc and changing room extends the luxury facilities found throughout this property.
Our terraces and gardens are designed to merge with the hillside. This is enhanced by inspired landscaping. Cacti and other plants from around the world thrive here in our rich hillside soil. Lights have been installed throughout the gardens of the property to enhance the lovely flora and fauna.
The middle terrace extends the full length of the property, creating various spaces for outdoor seating. You’ll find an inviting Gloster outdoor sofa and armchairs and eight really comfortable Gloster sunloungers, plus an outdoor dining table for up to 10 as well as large umbrellas to move to where you need to have some shade. There is a generous teak deck surrounding the pool and a large gas-fired BBQ.
Location and local information
Fresh produce from the Sunday morning market at La Londe and other markets is a short drive from your holiday get-away.
An excellent and beautiful 18 hole golf course and golf practice range is nearby in the valley of Valcros – Valcros Golf Club – it is just 2/3kms further round the ‘corniche panoramic’ from the villa. This is a friendly private member’s club which readily allows non members to play. ‘Twilight’ bookings are popular to avoid the hot sun in the summer months. There is a very good relaxed clubhouse serving a wide range of food from a simple baguette/sandwich to a full a la carte menu with the very best local wines. A copy of your handicap certificate is advisable - but one has not been requested of the owners in three years! Approx 60 euros per round – you can book up to 5 days in advance. Clubs can be hired for an additional fee.

The beaches of Argentiere and around the Port at La Londe are 15/20 mins drive and approx 8km from the house. The fantastic, sandy beaches at L’Estagnol, Cabasson and Bregancon on the Route des Vins are 20/25 mins and approx 10km. Le Lavandou with its many beaches are 30 minutes away and approx 15km drive.
Catering and services
Self catering accommodation, but we arrange for local cleaning and laundry changes via local managers.
Food and wine is synonymous with France and nowhere is better to celebrate these
together than in Provence, where the dream of the original French Riviera lives on. Our short break combines food and wine, a visit to St Tropez, local food markets and an introduction to the beautiful coastline and area. Visit the vineyards producing the renowned AOC & Cru Classé wines of the region, guided by an English-speaking sommelier. Savour seasonal menus using only the best local ingredients.

Day One: Having made your own travel arrangements you will arrive at Villa Mathilde
and will be greeted by your hosts with tea and cake, you can then unpack and settle in before dinner. A five course welcome dinner will be served accompanied by local wines.
Day Two: After breakfast, you will be collected and enjoy a full day excursion visiting local vineyards and wineries led by our English-speaking Sommelier, Claire
Santioni. There are over 30 renowned vineyards in the local area, producing varied white, red and rosé wines. Claire’s choice is based on the quality of recent vintages. Lunch will be taken back at Villa. After lunch, we will continue our tour for more tastings, on the way you will visit the ‘Route des Vins’ along the beautiful coastline of La Londe and, if time, see the French Presidential Summer Palace at Bregancon. Once back at the Villa you can relax with a nice cup of tea and make yourselves ready for the evening’s Gourmet Dinner – ingredients are local and seasonal. We will start with tasting some aperitifs then move onto the 6 course “Taste of Provence” Dinner. Claire will lead you through the local wines, specially chosen to accompany each course and she will discuss their grape varieties and properties. You will be given tasting notes to take away.
Day Three: After breakfast, you will be driven to St. Tropez. We will supply you with a local map of St.Tropez and give you some guidance of the wonderful sights to visit. Saturday is local market day there, so a visit to this is a must. Lunch is not included on this excursion as you will want to take the town at your own pace, however, as you would expect, there are a number of wonderful cafés and restaurants for a snack or light lunch. You will be left to your own devices here but the driver will be on hand for advice. Once back at the Villa, relax with a cup of tea and make yourself ready for the evening five course dinner including local wine.
Day Four: After breakfast you can visit the local market in La Londe les Maures, take a trip to the 12th century village of Bormes les Mimosas, the seaside town of Le Lavandou or visit the historic town of Hyéres. Lunch will be served at the Villa. In the afternoon, perhaps a walk through the countryside or just relax in the Villa. A five course dinner will be served in the evening with a selected local wine.
Day Five: Breakfast will be served prior to your departure from the Villa for your
return or onward journey.
