Gather together the family or a celebrate a very special occasion with friends all amidst the Tuscan hills, for this truly splendid estate can offer it all. With a bijoux poolside studio, a cosy hay barn and a grand farmhouse home, the estate of Il Principe del Forno sleeps from 6 up to 12 guests. And thats just for starters........
There are only a handful of properties throughout Italy, indeed the world that offer such breathtaking panoramic vistas and Cottages to Castles are priviledged to host this wonderful Tuscan estate as one of them. With views that stretch way beyond Florence, you are within the heart of the Chianti wine route and just a walk from the local grocer, restaurant and bar.
The estate itself consists of three separate properties; the east wing of the main villa (the west wing is home to the wonderful owners for the majority of the year with exception of most of July and August), the Hay Barn wonderfully renovated to host up to four guests and a clever little poolside studio.
All properties have been restored to create a real home from home yet all retain their traditional Tuscan roots with high beamed ceilings, stone walls and with a collection of fantastic furnishings.
The grounds that wrap around the estate, all secure and are well maintained. Lush green lawned areas rise and fall amongst the olive and cypress trees and with a refreshing swimming pool for those balmy summer days and the ever present al fresco dining area an essential part of all Italian homes.
This villa is located in an unrivalled spot for those who want to truly appreciate the Tuscan landscape, relax and unwind and be at one with nature. Yet it is also within easy reach of the local village and towns and of course the art cities of Florence, Siena and Pisa. There are also endless things to see and do nearby.
The wonderfully named village of Chioccio is within walking distance from the estate itself and offers a bar, restaurant and small grocery shop. The town of Greve is just a 10 minute drive away, Florence is just a 20 minute drive with the bus stop to Florence a short walk from the estate.
Between Florence and Siena, Greve right in the heart of the Chianti Classico wine zone is home to of course, the largest wine fair in Chianti and is held every September. Wine tours and tasting experiences sweep as far as the eye can see. The landscapes surrounding Greve offer some quite literally breathtaking hikes through the Monte San Michele Nature Park, but also pleasant strolls for those a little less adventurous!
And for those who appreciate the historic artefacts this region has to offer, the church of Santa Croce houses some of the most magnificent paintings from the school of the Fra Angelico. Greve also houses the San Francesco Museum of Sacred Art. Originally built in the 16th Century and completed later in 1866, it has a collection of valuable ecclesiastical artefacts and artwork.
The quaint village of Lamole is also nearby with a bar, restaurant and grocery store for all your essentials. Lamole is known for its weekly concerts of classical music from July to September, definitely worth a visit.
Panzano is world famous for many things, not simply for its beautiful hilltop location, world famous butcher and restaurants and popular Sunday market. The castle with its courtyard and grounds open to the public stands exactly halfway between Florence and Siena - the Greve valley and the Pesa valley.
