One of our favourites. The house has been restored with much taste and the huge proportions of the rooms have been respected. Very well equipped for children. This area of France is a well-kept secret offering beautiful countryside and fabulous Romanesque architecture.
Located 1km from the picturesque village of Vouthon (no shops) on the borders of the Dordogne and the Limousin, this beautiful 15th century property nestles below the St-Sornin vineyards and enjoys panoramic views of the village of Vouthon and the River Tardoire. The area is rich in history and culture, with an abundance of Romanesque churches and castles within easy driving distance. There is a famous château at la Rochefoucauld, as well as free concerts in July and August, and all shops and sports facilities. All shops, services, tennis courts and bicycle hire can be found in the charming small town of Montbron (2km).
Horse riding is possible at Pranzac (8.5km). There are 18 hole golf courses at Ecuras (10km) and Angoulême (25km). Swimming, fishing and canoeing are possible on the River Tardoire (5 minutes away); this is highly recommended by the owner. There are two leisure lakes nearby, one close to Angoulême and one near Massignac (25 minutes away) with sailing, swimming, fishing and an adventure park (tree climbing). There are lovely walks from the property into the surrounding woods and hills
