This villa is almost, but not quite, a secret, once discovered, never forgotten. It lies at the very end of a pretty old alleyway in the Medina, punctuated by ancient doors, with a herbalists shop nearby. The alley leads nowhere, and is thus quiet except for the sound of children playing. This really is Old Marrakech, barely five minutes walk to the souks and the great square of Djamaa el Fna.
The villa is small and exquisitely renovated. Sleeping just 8 guests, its rooms, balconies and courtyards are filled with the traditions of Morocco cool tiles, graceful metalwork, carved wood, arched doorways and the orange trees without which no riad is complete. There is a plunge pool too, as well as a lovely balcony sitting area, and a roof top sun deck. The designer owner, while maintaining the atmosphere of a classic riad, has introduced many of the contemporary facilities that are essential to the traveller air conditioning (and heating in winter), cable TV, WiFi.
To stay here is to feel that you are privileged guests in the home of a well-travelled and hospitable friend. The helpful staff are available all day if required, and the cook will prepare a wonderful breakfast to give you stamina for sightseeing and shopping, and, if you wish, welcome you back with lunch and dinner, with dishes based on the freshest ingredients and traditional Moroccan recipes. The House Manager can make any arrangements for you, such as restaurant bookings and tours or guided walks.
This villa really does offer a unique experience for visitors to Marrakech a tranquil retreat from the heat and bustle that is so much a part of this endlessly fascinating city, the sense of being a part of the city, even for a short time.
