This Castle is a sprawling gothic mansion with 15 acres of beautiful grounds, surrounded by thousands of acres of unspoilt Irish countryside. The Castle was built in the late 1840's by Elizabeth and Mary Oliver-Gascoigne, sisters who inherited vast wealth at a young age. Their monogrammed initials OG appear all over the building, both inside and out. The Castle has Ireland's largest wine cellar with a capacity for 50,000 bottles. In 1852 Elizabeth married and became Baroness Ashtown. She and her husband lived at Castle Oliver for much of their time.Castle Oliver is the ideal location for an intimate family gathering / wedding with a function capacity of 120. The 15 acres of gardens and wooded walks lends themselves to picturesque wedding photos.
There are five superior bedrooms with 6ft 4-poster beds. These bedrooms have large ensuite bathrooms all with power shower cubicles and double slipper bath tubs. There are a further 4 deluxe bedrooms with 5ft beds with large ensuite bathrooms with bathtubs and power shower cubicles.
There are camp beds and cots for babies if required. All bedrooms have satellite Televisions all bathrooms have towels, toiletries and bathrobes.

The castle has electric gates to keep your 15 acres of gardens private. It has terraced gardens, a small lake, a folly, woodlands with walks, a sunken garden and two fountains on the grounds.
Set in the Ballyhoura Mountains, the Castle is roughly halfway between Limerick and Cork cities with both Shannon and Cork airports about 1 hours drive away.

Irish Set dancing classes are held every week in the local pub and outdoor cross road classes or held locally between the months of May to Sept. There are two local pubs close by which both play traditional and live bands (the pub in Ardpatrick every weekend).
For those interested in angling there is over 35 miles of Salmon fishing on the River Blackwater with concessions for guests staying in Castle Oliver. Falconry displays or Hawk Walks are available on the Castle grounds provided by a local Falconer. Why not go where nature sends you on a Hot Air Balloon, or have a go at Clay Pigeon shooting available locally.
