The villa was recently converted from an old traditional feeding barn. The original character of the building has in no way been compromised and the atmospheric open-plan living room on the first floor, beneath the exposed beams of the pitched roof, is both beautiful and comfortable, complete with wood burning stove. The windows overlook lovely views over sea and countryside, as far as Lundy Island.
The ground floor houses the bedrooms, which are furnished in a simple, pretty cottage style, with windows looking on to the garden.
Outside, there is a lovely cottage garden, filled with traditional flowers, with steps leading down to a sunny paved terrace for outdoor meals, drinks, or just a few quiet moments. Set on elevated ground, the garden lawns overlook lovely views over the River Taw estuary and on to the hills of Exmoor. The sandy beach at Instow is a short 20-minute drive away, as is the quaint village of Appledore, and the farmers markets of Bideford and Barnstaple are well worth a visit.
This is a perfect cottage for a family escape or a romantic retreat for a couple, with ample opportunities for spending the time just as you wish, in idle relaxation or in interesting activity.
