This old style, traditional farmhouse is situated in the quiet village of Zebbug, one of three hilltop villages in the north of the island. The village was once famous for its abundance of olive trees (Zebbug means ‘olives’) and the olives grown and harvested here were taken for pressing into oil at the next door village down the hill, Ghasri (which means ‘pressing’). From its hilltop position, Zebbug enjoys stunning views over the countryside to the coast and the sea. There is a large village church is a high, prominent position two local grocers and a bank club with pizzeria.
The area is also famous for its Punic and Pre-Historic tombs, as well as Ta Kuljat, a neighbouring flat topped hill with some Bronze Age sites. The coast is just 5 – 10 minutes drive and best beaches, at Marsalform or Ramla Bay, are within a 10 – 15 minute drive.
The charming interiors have many authentic features, with tiled floors, beamed ceilings, stone walls and archways. The living/dining room and the kitchen both open to the terrace and swimming pool area. The pool terrace is furnished for outdoor dining, with stone built-in barbecue, or for relaxing in or out of the sun. There is also a pool shower room with WC, basin and washing machine. There is a side gate entrance to the street.
From the living room there is a traditional stone staircase, with iron balustrade, leading to first floor. There is one bedroom at ground floor level and the other three bedrooms on the first floor, all with en-suite bathroom. The first floor bedrooms open to balconies.
There is also small terrace at this level with sink unit and a bench, and stone stairs to a roof terrace with panoramic views over the island.
Entrance is into a small foyer, then a corridor with the main bedroom to the right, with double bed, wardrobe, bedside tables, and window overlooking the terrace. En-suite bathroom with bath, WC and basin. The corridor leads to the open plan living area with sofas and chairs, a TV and large doors overlooking the pool/deck area. A step up leads to the dining room/kitchen with two large tables and 8 chairs and doors to the pool/deck area. Kitchen equipment includes two fridge/freezers, a cooker and microwave.
