Bacchus, the Greek god of wine, was also known as the “Liberator”, freeing one from one's normal self by ecstasy or wine. The divine mission of Bacchus was to mingle the music of the flute and to bring an end to care and worry.
This house stands at the top of AntiPaxos’ east coast with a dramatic and panoramic view out to sea. The owner’s vineyard lies below the house and there are further vineyards, bordered by pine trees, on either side of the house.
The owner of the house is a chef and restaurant owner in Wellington, New Zealand and he and his wife have converted a charming and secluded stone cottage into a comfortable home with total privacy. A front terrace leads to the pool terrace and a sheltered garden containing almond, lemon, quince, fig and grapefruit trees and a barbecue and dining area – all have wonderful views over the vineyards and across the sea to the Greek mainland.
