Lisbon is the capital city and largest city of Portugal. Perched on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, Lisbon is one of the rare Western European cities that face the ocean and uses water as an element that defines the city. Lisboa is one of the most ancient cities of the world and, it has a very rich history.
Lisbon Portugal has a mild climate- you will want to spend time sitting outside in cafes enjoying the spectacular views of the city, you will have plenty of opportunities for enjoying a swim on the lovely Lisbon coasts.
Lisbon is also the stage for popular festivities, the place for exquisite shopping, exciting nightlife (Nightlife in Lisbon can be found in the Bairro Alto district where clubs are open until around 3am, with many attracting top international DJs.), and interesting museums, a place from where motorways branch off in different directions.
Indoors, Lisbon has wondrous museums: the Gulbenkian, with its collection of Lalique glass, porcelain, carpets, silver and furniture, the museum of Arte Antiga with its superb collection of silver and even an azulejo museum. There are handicrafts to buy, antiques, jewellery and lace or bric-a-brac - in the weekly "Thieves' Market" in the Alfama. Restaurant windows are piled high with lobsters and clams and you can taste not only all Portugal's regional dishes but also those of Brazil and Africa.
